Harbour Walls, Phases I and II
Description:
In response to the TfL (Transport for London) initiative to take measures to prevent Crowd Surge in public spaces, The Royal Parks committed to designing and installing a hidden wall strengthening scheme on the Grade I Listed Harbour Wall to the surrounding Portland stone balustrades which forms part of the Victoria Memorial and Gardens. This attraction is frequented by tens of thousands of people on a daily basis and was of prime consideration and concern to TfL and The Royal Parks for safety measures.
The works involved:

Full site set-up, road traffic and pedestrian management throughout to ensure high levels of public safety.

Tailored quality plan to ensure the delivery of project objectives.

Install a hidden stainless steel framework, connected to Cintec sock
anchors to resist lateral crowd loading.

3D topographical & detailed site condition surveys, dismantling and rebuilding of the Portland stone balustrading in St James’s Park and Green Park.

626 core drilled holes into the balustrade bottles.

To satisfy conditions of Royal Parks/Buckingham Palace the hoarding was shrouded with a bespoke banner depicting the arboreta view behind.
